The Thirsty Hippo keeps downtown Hattiesburg fed with Gulf South comfort cooking, house-made dips, and Breadsmith buns and bread. This page is our printed lunch and dinner menu: shareable starters, salads, burgers, dogs, sandwiches, and sides built to pair with a night of live music. Ask your server about daily specials, seasonal chili, and dessert bread pudding flavors.
DRINKS
Cocktails, draft beer, wine, and happy hour details live on our DRINK page. If you are planning burgers or po boys before a show, order when you are seated so the kitchen can time plates around doors and set breaks.
APPETIZERS
Red Bean Hummus | Red beans, mild Creole seasonings. With French baguette, baby carrots, sugar snap peas. $6.50

SALADS
Made fresh to order. Served on a romaine and radicchio blend. House-made dressings include balsamic vinaigrette, rosemary honey Dijon, or buttermilk ranch. Top a salad with a fried egg for $1, grilled ham for $2, a scoop of hummus for $2, or chilled turkey for $3.

Choose from a 6 oz. freshly ground, hand-pattied beef or house-made from whole food ingredients veggie patty. Served on a Breadsmith bun with condiments on the side. Each comes with Zapp’s, slaw, or bean salad.

SHOW NIGHTS AND ORDERS
Weekend headliners fill the room fast, and the kitchen stays busy right up to the first downbeat. If you need food before an early opener, tell your server the time you want plates on the table. Large parties can split appetizers while burgers finish on the flat top. We post last-minute menu tweaks on social when we run out of a special, so it helps to follow The Thirsty Hippo online before you drive across town.
